Barack Obama welcomes the Democrats’ victory / Former president calls for unity and concrete solutions after the U.S. elections

Former US President Barack Obama welcomed on Wednesday the “blue wave” that propelled Democratic candidates into nationwide office, following the elections in the United States. In a message published on social media, Obama said the result sends a clear message: voters want politics based on unity and leaders capable of offering concrete solutions.

Obama said the Democrats’ victory was made possible by “outstanding” candidates, who managed to win even in regions previously considered unwinnable for the party. He highlighted their diversity and shared values, such as public service and prioritizing citizens’ interests.

The former president called on the new Democratic majorities in the Senate and House of Representatives to use the next two years to bring about changes where they have the power to do so, to limit the negative effects of the current administration, and to prepare for the future.

Obama, who has been away from the White House for nearly a decade, returned to the campaign trail in recent weeks. He attended events alongside candidates such as Jon Ossoff from Georgia and Sherrod Brown from Ohio.
