Volvo announces layoffs of 3,000 in Sweden, 15% of workforce, as part of $1.9 billion restructuring plan

Swedish carmaker Volvo will lay off about 3,000 employees, mostly in offices, as part of an 18 billion Swedish kronor restructuring plan. Chief executive Håkan Samuelsson cited difficulties facing the auto industry, including high tariffs and falling sales. In addition, other car companies such as Nissan and Stellantis have announced significant job cuts amid weak sales.
