Russian authorities reported a massive drone attack from Ukraine over the weekend, with over 100 drones shot down by Russian air defense. The Mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, confirmed that most of the drones were intercepted in the Moscow region, with a total of 53 shot down, of which 46 were heading towards the capital. Additionally, the attacks extended to other regions, such as Bryansk, Yaroslavl, Kaluga, and Smolensk.
At the same time, Ukrainian drones struck an oil refinery in the Krasnodar region, causing a fire but no casualties. These attacks are part of a Ukrainian strategy to target Russian energy infrastructure, especially in the context of rising oil prices. Russian President Vladimir Putin convened a Security Council meeting to discuss the defense of the country's critical infrastructure in light of the escalating attacks.
