Cosmin Tudoran, sentenced at first instance to one year and eight months in prison suspended for assaulting a delivery driver from Bangladesh

The 21-year-old man who assaulted a delivery worker from Bangladesh in August 2025 was sentenced at first instance to one year and eight months in prison, suspended, by the Bucharest District 2 Court. The sentence was handed down following the incident that took place on the night of August 26, 2025, on a street in District 2, and may be appealed.

The court sentenced him to one year and six months for assault and six months for the public use of fascist, Legionary, racist, or xenophobic symbols. The sentence resulting from the merger of the penalties is suspended for a four-year supervision period.

Tudoran must perform 120 days of unpaid community service with the Social Assistance and Child Protection Directorate of District 2 or District 3, and pay the victim €3,000 in moral damages.

The assault was filmed by the defendant, who allegedly told the delivery worker to return to his country and called him an “invader.” Subsequently, he allegedly committed other offenses as well, including acts of violence and extremist messages. Prosecutors requested his arrest three times, but the requests were rejected.
