On Friday, the Kremlin condemned Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's decision to ban the Russian animated series 'Masha and the Bear', arguing that it poses a threat to Ukraine's national security.
The spokesperson for the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, stated that this action demonstrates the abominable nature of the regime in Kiev, emphasizing that the cartoon has gained global popularity due to the human values it promotes.
On the eve, Zelensky approved sanctions against companies in the Russian military-industrial complex, including those associated with 'Masha and the Bear'. Ukraine's Minister of Culture, Tetiana Berezhna, stated that these measures are necessary to block Russian propaganda on children's screens.
The sanctions target the Animaccord studio and five associated individuals, being considered a threat to national security, given that the series promotes pro-Russian rhetoric. Ukraine perceives this cartoon as a cultural tool of Moscow, contributing to a favorable image of Russia.
