An American diplomat, implicated in a pedophilia case, was evacuated from London with the help of agents from the United States

A U.S. diplomat assigned to the U.S. Embassy in London was reportedly removed from the United Kingdom by American agents following a raid carried out on August 25, according to The Sun and information reported by MEDIAFAX. The operation reportedly took place in the context of an investigation into material containing abusive content involving minors.

The diplomat, a former military service member, was reportedly taken at dawn from his London apartment after U.S. authorities obtained a court order in the United States. The investigation concerns his alleged connection to his brother, who is in the U.S. and is accused of having sent him such material.

According to the British press, the American agents allegedly lacked the legal authority to make an arrest on British territory. The diplomat was reportedly evacuated on a cargo plane via the U.S. air base at Fairford, Gloucestershire, before the Metropolitan Police and other British authorities were informed.

London was reportedly notified only after the operation had concluded, causing tensions between the two governments. Scotland Yard and British ministers convened crisis meetings, and the case could be discussed at the meeting between the British prime minister and the U.S. president, scheduled to take place at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
