The “Prof. Dr. Ion Chiricuță” Oncology Institute in Cluj-Napoca represents Romania in the second phase of the European ECHoS project, launched in Lisbon on September 10. Over the next five years, the initiative aims to expand the European network of National Cancer Mission Hubs and turn the European Union’s objectives into concrete actions for cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment.

IOCN became a member of the consortium starting with this phase and participated as an active partner in the launch meeting in Portugal. The event reviewed the results of the first phase, including the recognition of 17 National Cancer Mission Hubs in Europe.

The project is supported by €15 million in funding awarded through Horizon Europe’s Cancer Mission. ECHoS brings together 61 organizations from 30 countries and aims to strengthen cooperation at national, regional and local levels. Romania will contribute to the exchange of expertise and the development of coordinated solutions for patients and communities.
