American President Donald Trump stated on his Truth Social network that he has "absolute right" to reimpose tariffs, after the Supreme Court invalidated previous surcharges. He mentioned that he has already begun to impose a 10% tariff by executive order, in the context of new trade investigations aimed at identifying deficiencies in the fight against forced labor. These tariffs target 60 countries, including states from the European Union, China, and Japan. Trump's post came after China urged the U.S. to correct its trade actions, describing the investigations as protectionist and discriminatory. Additionally, Trump criticized the Supreme Court's decision, stating that it yielded to foreign interests and jeopardized the American economy. Trade discussions between American and Chinese officials continue, with a planned visit by Trump to China at the end of March or the beginning of April.
