Trump threatens the European Union with 100% tariffs if it taxes the digital services of American companies

President Donald Trump declared that the United States will impose 100% tariffs on products imported from any country that taxes American tech giants.

The announcement was made on the Truth Social platform and specifically targets European countries that have introduced taxes on digital services. Trump emphasized that these tax measures discriminate against American companies such as Meta, Alphabet, and Amazon, and that Washington must respond firmly.

He stated that the new tariffs will prevail over any existing or negotiated trade agreements, thus heightening trade tensions between the U.S. and its partners. This is not the first time Trump has threatened sanctions; last year, he suspended trade negotiations with Canada due to a similar tax. Currently, over ten states, mostly in Europe, are applying or preparing to implement taxes on digital services.
