On Tuesday, September 15, 2026, Bucharest Police detained a 34-year-old man who was participating in the protest in Victory Square after gendarmes found him carrying a knife with a total length of approximately 20 centimeters. The man is being investigated for the unauthorized carrying or use of dangerous objects and was detained for 24 hours.
The incident occurred at around 3:40 p.m., while law enforcement officers were ensuring and maintaining public order in the area of the demonstration. Before the detention, gendarmes escorted three men, aged 34, 37 and 50, to Police Station 4 due to behavior considered defiant and uncooperative.
Following checks, a cutting-and-stabbing object was found on the 34-year-old man. He is to be brought before magistrates, with a legal proposal. The investigation is being conducted by officers from Police Station 4 under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the District 1 Court.
In the case of the other two participants, checks are continuing to establish the facts and determine the appropriate legal measures. The Ministry of Internal Affairs states that the right to express opinions is respected, but behavior that endangers participants or law enforcement officers will be sanctioned.
