The Slovak government has decided to limit fuel sales at gas stations for the next 30 days, in response to the energy crisis exacerbated by the war in Iran. The measure, announced by Prime Minister Robert Fico, will come into effect starting Thursday, after publication in the official journal.
Each vehicle will be able to be fueled with diesel and gasoline up to a maximum value of 400 euros, and the transport of more than 10 liters in external containers will be prohibited. Additionally, diesel exports will be temporarily limited. Fico emphasized that these measures are an alternative to the drastic increase in prices, mentioning that Slovakia has declared a state of oil emergency due to the need to supply the Slovnaft refinery. Slovakia's oil supply has been affected by the halt of Russian oil deliveries through the Druzhba pipeline.
