Prague will ban the rental of electric scooters starting in January 2026, following the approval by local councilors of regulations aimed at reducing chaos on sidewalks. Vice Mayor Zdenek Hrib emphasized that scooters were used more as tourist attractions than as means of transport, causing problems in pedestrian areas.

Although bicycles will have strict parking rules, electric scooters will no longer be allowed, which will lead to their elimination from the Czech capital. This decision aligns with trends in other European cities that have imposed similar restrictions. Authorities in Prague acted following complaints from citizens regarding the dangers associated with the use of electric scooters. The operator Lime expressed regret over this decision, suggesting that constructive dialogue could improve the situation.
