The Mayor of Bucharest, Ciprian Ciucu, has initiated a new regulation for electric scooters, currently under public debate, aimed at reducing accidents and protecting pedestrians.

According to the proposal, users must be at least 18 years old and can only ride on bike lanes or on streets with a speed limit of 50 km/h, with access strictly prohibited on sidewalks, in parks, or public gardens. Additionally, each scooter can be used by only one person, without large luggage.

Rental companies are required to equip scooters with GPS, lights, and horns, and parking will only be allowed in specially marked places, with authorization from the City Hall. Users cannot leave vehicles abandoned on green spaces, streets, or at bus stops.
