The Capital City Hall has put a draft regulation regarding the use of electric scooters in Bucharest up for public debate. According to this, users must be at least 18 years old, and operators are required to verify the age at each use. Scooters will only operate on bike lanes, and in their absence, on roads with a maximum speed of 50 km/h.

The rules require scooters to be equipped with functional brakes, GPS, lighting, and reflective elements. Additionally, users cannot transport more than one person and must carry their identification document with them.

The project prohibits circulation on sidewalks and in pedestrian areas, and operators must adhere to strict parking rules and use technologies to limit speed. Non-compliance with the regulation may result in fines for operators and users.
