Radoslaw Sikorski, the Polish foreign minister, asked Elon Musk, the owner of the Starlink network, to stop Russia's access to this service, which is used in the war against Ukraine. Sikorski emphasized on platform X that profits from activities related to war crimes affect Musk's image. His request came in response to a report from the American Institute for the Study of War, which indicated that Russian forces are using Starlink to enhance the capabilities of attack drones.
These drones, having a range of 500 kilometers, can target a large part of Ukraine and areas in Poland, Romania, and Lithuania. Although the Starlink terminals used by Russia were not sold directly by the company, but obtained through parallel channels, Musk previously denied that he had sold equipment to Russia. Stopping the Starlink service in Ukraine would create difficulties, as it is essential for the communications of the Ukrainian army. Russia continues to launch drone attacks on Ukraine, affecting infrastructure and residential areas.
