During the nuclear negotiations in Geneva, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated that Iran and the USA have seriously discussed several proposals, reaching a general agreement on the principles of a possible deal. The next stage will involve the actual drafting of the text, following a new exchange of documents. Although the discussions are mediated by Oman and involve high-ranking representatives from the American side, the White House has not officially commented on the meeting.
Meanwhile, the United States is strengthening its military presence in the Middle East, with President Trump warning that the lack of an agreement could have serious consequences for Iran. The Iranian Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, rejected the idea of an externally imposed regime change and reaffirmed that Iran will not negotiate its missile program, conditioning any compromise on the lifting of international sanctions.
Although Iranian officials have tempered fears regarding a major disruption of traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, Iran has warned that it may restrict maritime transit in the event of an attack. The success of the negotiations depends on the realism of the American demands and Washington's willingness to lift economic sanctions, and a lasting agreement remains uncertain.
