Although Iranian officials stated that progress had been made, Trump's threats provoked outrage among the Iranian team, which considered them an unacceptable threat. Iran has reinstated the blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, citing Israeli attacks in Lebanon and has asked mediators to control the intimidation from the US. The Iranian delegation refused to appear alongside the American one, but discussions continued in a quadrilateral format, involving Pakistan and Qatar as well. Iran wants the discussions to focus on a ceasefire in Lebanon and the lifting of sanctions, including the unlocking of its assets abroad.
