The United States and Iran have agreed to suspend reciprocal attacks, according to information from the American press citing senior officials of the Washington administration. The two parties will meet on Tuesday in Qatar to continue discussions related to the dispute in the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial maritime route.
Despite a memorandum of understanding signed on June 17, aimed at reducing the conflict, exchanges of strikes have continued. The agreement stipulates that Iran will allow the safe passage of commercial vessels, and the U.S. will lift the blockade on Iranian ports.
An American official confirmed that both parties will suspend military actions "for now," and vessels will be able to move freely. The White House has not officially commented on this information.
