Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called for the dismissal of Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko, who was accused of irregularities within the anti-corruption authorities, and the decree removing him from office was immediately published on the website of the Office of the President of Ukraine. The decision came after searches conducted by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) at the prosecutor general’s office at the beginning of September.

Zelensky wrote on Telegram that the prosecutor general “has only one way out: dismissal” and asked lawmakers to approve the measure without delay. Kravchenko, who had previously announced that he intended to step down, while rejecting the accusations, says he is on a mission abroad.

He said he intends to inform his international partners about the situation involving the anti-corruption authorities and the risks that the concentration of their influence could pose. Kravchenko also filed a complaint against NABU Director Semion Krivonos, whom he accuses of falsifying official documents.

NABU investigators say they uncovered a network that accepted bribes to protect fraudulent call centers and legalize assets worth millions of dollars. The money was allegedly used to purchase real estate, jewelry, and other valuable goods.

According to GI-TOC, Ukraine’s fraudulent call-center industry has nearly 60,000 employees and can generate revenues of up to one billion dollars a month. The case has once again drawn attention to the issue of corruption in Ukraine, where NABU was targeted in 2025 by an attempt to limit its independence, later withdrawn following domestic protests and pressure from Western countries.
