Ruslan Kravchenko announced his resignation as Ukraine’s prosecutor general in a message posted on Telegram on Monday evening. He said the decision was political and that he did not want the position to be used as a tool in a political confrontation.

Kravchenko provided no further details, but thanked President Volodymyr Zelensky and the Ukrainian parliament and asked them to accept his resignation. The announcement came shortly after Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) announced an investigation into an alleged criminal organization involved in operating fraudulent call centers.

The two institutions said the network was allegedly coordinated by an official within the Prosecutor General’s Office. Kravchenko denied any involvement and said his position on the allegations remained unchanged.

The resignation is part of a series of changes at the top of the government in Kyiv. In recent months, Zelensky has backed a change of prime minister and replaced the defense minister amid scandals and disputes over reforms, military strategy and public procurement claims that the position had been used as a tool in a political confrontation.
