Greece had revenues of over 20 billion euros from tourism in 2025

Greece reported revenues of over 20 billion euros from tourism in the period from January to September 2025, with a record number of 31.6 million tourists, according to the Bank of Greece. These revenues represent an annual increase of 9% and a number of arrivals that is 4% higher than in 2024. Border crossings increased by 4.3%, and the number of passengers who landed at Greek airports was similar.

Of the tourists, 18.8 million came from the European Union, with the most visitors coming from Germany, Italy, and France, while outside the EU, the UK and the USA were leaders. In 2024, tourism revenues reached 21.7 billion euros, significantly contributing to Greece's GDP. In comparison, Romania attracted nearly 2.4 million foreign tourists in 2024, recording a 13.5% increase compared to the previous year.
