Sorin Grindeanu reportedly proposed an anti-AUR pact to Ilie Bolojan / Liberal leader reportedly rejected it

PSD President Sorin Grindeanu allegedly proposed to Prime Minister and PNL leader Ilie Bolojan a pact under which the two parties would no longer vote for legislative bills initiated by AUR, according to political sources. Bolojan allegedly rejected the proposal.

The agreement was reportedly discussed as early as last week, given that neither PSD nor PNL holds a majority in Parliament on its own, while bills promoted by AUR may receive parliamentary support in the absence of a common position from the traditional parties.

Negotiations are also taking place against the backdrop of the deadlock over the formation of a government with full powers. PNL announced that it would not vote for an executive including Social Democratic ministers, while PSD maintains that it will support only a Social Democratic government, including one led by a technocrat prime minister.

AUR recently submitted several bills to Parliament, including one proposing a day dedicated to public officials and heads of public institutions kissing the national flag. Those who refused the gesture could be sanctioned with fines of up to 10,000 lei.
