Acting Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan announced on Friday, October 9, that the PNL is willing to contribute to the formation of a functional government, but rules out participating in another government alongside the PSD. The statement comes amid political negotiations over the formation of the government led by Prime Minister-designate Luca Niculescu.
Bolojan said that the refusal to cooperate with the PSD is not based on pride or political calculations, but on the experience of the past year. According to the Liberal leader, the PSD allegedly used its governing partners to shift responsibility for blocking certain solutions and to protect its interests, including by using public resources.
The acting prime minister accused the PSD of contributing, together with the AUR, to the rejection of the Mureșan minority government, citing a change in political direction and the existence of alternative solutions. At the same time, he said that the PSD should demonstrate, through the government led by Niculescu, that it can implement the promised measures and revive the economy without destabilizing the budget.
Bolojan asked why the PSD insists on the PNL’s participation, suggesting that the Liberals would become a shield for any potential failures of the future government. Asked on Digi24 about the Liberal’s message, Luca Niculescu said that negotiations between the two parties can continue.
