The Permanent Electoral Authority allocated total subsidies of 15,470,004 lei to parliamentary political parties and eligible political formations in September, according to a statement issued on Monday.
The largest amount went to the Social Democratic Party, which received 5,132,818 lei. The National Liberal Party received 2,794,483 lei, while the Alliance for the Union of Romanians received 3,035,116 lei.
Save Romania Union received a subsidy of 1,983,502 lei for September. SOS Romania received 1,319,399 lei, while the Young People's Party received 1,063,111 lei.
Smaller amounts were allocated to the People's Movement Party and the Right Force formation. PMP received 72,619 lei, while Right Force received 68,956 lei.
Subsidies are distributed monthly by the Permanent Electoral Authority, in accordance with legal provisions on financing political parties' activities. The funds may be used for eligible expenses, such as the operation of the formations, political activities, communication, and the preparation of election campaigns. The breakdown published by AEP shows that PSD received approximately one-third of the total subsidies allocated in September.
