An analysis by Expert Forum (EFOR) published on August 31 shows that political parties spent 26.4 million lei on press and propaganda in the first seven months of 2026, but only a portion of these expenses is transparent. Of the 52 notifications identified, 15.2 million lei are reported, and nearly 80% of this amount goes to three companies. PSD reported the highest expenses, with 13.1 million lei, followed by PNL with 5.8 million lei and AUR with 4.6 million lei.
EFOR found that most of the funds come from public subsidies, and the lack of a centralized registry hinders the complete tracking of these expenses. Additionally, the report highlights that notifications are often incomplete, making it difficult to assess the real impact of political spending. Future European regulations will impose greater transparency in political advertising, but current challenges remain.
