Unusually high temperatures for this period will affect Greece starting Monday, May 11, with thermal values expected to exceed the seasonal average by approximately 5 degrees. The highest temperatures are expected on Tuesday, especially in the lowland areas of the eastern part of the country, such as Argos and the Argolic plain, where maximums will frequently reach 32-33 degrees Celsius and, isolated, even 35 degrees. Meteorologists specify, however, that the phenomenon is characteristic of the end of spring and does not represent an extreme heat wave. Meanwhile, the northern regions, including Macedonia and Thrace, will be affected by atmospheric instability, with local showers in the mountainous areas. An episode of Saharan dust transported from North Africa will also create a slight haze and reduce visibility. From Wednesday, May 13, the weather will begin to gradually cool down, with temperatures returning to normal values, and on Thursday, short-lived rains and local storms are possible, which will bring a refreshing of the air before the summer tourist season.
