OMV Petrom has invested approximately 115 million euros in modernizing the electrical infrastructure of the Petrobrazi Refinery, a project aimed at supporting current operations and the new energy capacities being developed at the platform in Prahova.

The investment included the construction of a high-voltage power line connected directly to the Transelectrica substation, a new electrical substation, and a distribution substation. The infrastructure uses Blue GIS technology, a modern electrical switching system with a reduced environmental impact.

According to OMV Petrom, the refinery has a generation unit that covers almost all of its own electricity consumption. In addition, a photovoltaic park with a capacity of 7 MW is under construction at Petrobrazi.

The new network will enable the integration of projects under development, such as the unit for producing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), renewable diesel (HVO), and green hydrogen.

“This is an important step in transforming Petrobrazi to meet the energy requirements of the future,” said Radu Căprău, member of the OMV Petrom Executive Board.

The company is the largest integrated energy producer in Southeastern Europe and operates approximately 780 filling stations in Romania and neighboring countries.
