On Thursday, lifeguards raised the red flag on the beaches of Eforie Nord and banned swimming because of rough seas and strong currents. Tourists are warned that entering the water is dangerous, including for experienced swimmers.
The lifeguards say that waves and currents can quickly pull people out to sea and are urging tourists not to enter the water. They also recommend that parents not leave their children unsupervised near the water and that everyone follow all instructions issued by the rescue teams.
The red flag signals a real danger, and swimming is prohibited for everyone while it is flying. Lifeguards have asked tourists not to approach the waves for photographs and not to ignore the warnings.
The warning is in effect while the sky is clear and the temperature recorded at the weather station in Constanța is 22 degrees. Pleasant weather does not, however, change the risks posed by sea conditions and the strength of the currents.
