The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States announced that, starting November 17, air traffic will return to normal operations after weeks of severe restrictions caused by the budget impasse. This situation led to a severe shortage of air traffic controllers, who were forced to work without pay, resulting in the cancellation of thousands of flights and massive delays. On November 7, the FAA imposed a 10% reduction in domestic flights at 40 of the busiest airports. Although the budget impasse has ended, restrictions continued, but now, with their complete lifting, authorities promise an accelerated recruitment effort for air traffic controllers and modernization of the traffic management system. This decision is crucial ahead of the busy Thanksgiving holiday period, when a record number of passengers is expected.
