On Tuesday, at 10:38 AM, an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.8 affected the Granada region in southern Spain, with its epicenter in the town of Alhendin, about 10 kilometers south of the city.
The earthquake caused significant damage to buildings and lightly injured three people, one of whom, a girl, required medical attention at the hospital. Authorities received over 50 emergency calls, reporting cracks in buildings and debris fallen on the streets. Images shared on social media show destruction and damaged cars.
This earthquake comes shortly after another quake of magnitude 5, which occurred on Saturday, without causing injuries. The president of the regional government, Juan Manuel Moreno, warned that the region could experience aftershocks and urged caution from residents. Authorities continue to assess the damage, and Granada, known for the Alhambra, remains a popular tourist destination.
