The southeast of Crete was shaken on Saturday afternoon by two moderate earthquakes, with no reports of casualties or damage. The first quake, with a magnitude of 4.6, was recorded at 12:31 PM, at a depth of 13.4 kilometers, with its epicenter located 5 kilometers northeast of Gavdos island.

Just six minutes later, a stronger aftershock occurred, with a magnitude of 5.3, its epicenter located 6 kilometers east of Gavdos and at a depth of 10 kilometers. The earthquakes were felt in various areas of Crete, which is known for its seismic activity. Crete, the largest island in Greece, is a popular tourist destination, including for Romanians, and is located in a seismically active zone.
