An investigation into a suspicious death has been opened in southern France, following the discovery of the body of a young influencer, Sonia Bellina, in the vineyards of Saint-Gilles, near Nîmes. Sonia, known on social media as Mia, had disappeared on August 10, and her body, found without clothes and partially burned, was identified by family members.
Prosecutor Cécile Gensac stated that the body was discovered in an apparent attempt to destroy evidence. So far, there have been no arrests in this case. Sonia's sister reported that the young woman went out one evening and did not return, suggesting that she may have encountered an inappropriate person. The family condemned a "hate campaign" on social media, accusing harassment and malicious comments that emerged after her death. Sonia was set to turn 30 next month, and the family was preparing for a birthday party.
