Via Carpatia, a highway of thousands of kilometers that will connect seven countries

Via Carpatia, one of the largest highway projects in Europe, will connect 7 countries, starting from Lithuania and ending in Thessaloniki, Greece. The project, which was initiated in 2006, aims to create a unified road corridor based on the modernization of existing roads, to stimulate transport and trade. In 2010, Romania, Bulgaria, and Greece joined the initiative, expanding the route.

Additionally, Turkey has recently been included in the project, with a southern branch that will reach Istanbul. Work began between 2010 and 2015, mainly in Poland and Hungary, and the total length of the highway network is estimated at 3,000 kilometers.

The completion of the project is expected by 2030, with the potential to transform the transport map of Europe and stimulate economic development in the involved regions.
