In the city of Bydgoszcz, Poland, a 14-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy were assaulted by a man and a woman after they were heard speaking in Ukrainian. According to the Consulate General of Ukraine in Gdańsk, the two attackers initially insulted the children using obscene language and threatened them on grounds of national intolerance.
The confrontation escalated, and the attackers inflicted physical injuries on the child, including by breaking a toy drone and throwing pieces at the boy. The consulate is monitoring the case and maintaining contact with the victims' mother, who has filed a complaint with the police.
Although the children's physical health is not in danger, they have suffered severe emotional distress. The consulate has strongly condemned xenophobia and emphasized the importance of combating intolerance, announcing a meeting with local authorities to discuss the safety of Ukrainians. The number of attacks on Ukrainians in Poland has recently increased, and controversial statements by some politicians have raised concerns related to xenophobia.
