The research analyzed 33,095 natural-born children in Finland, showing that antibiotics given in the first two years are associated with higher BMI. Children exposed to antibiotics have a 9% higher risk of becoming overweight and a 20% higher risk of obesity. The study emphasizes the need for caution in prescribing antibiotics, especially in unwarranted cases, as childhood obesity becomes a growing global problem.
