A 6-year-old child from Botoșani fell into a coma after his 10-year-old sister applied a fentanyl patch to a wound.
He was found unconscious and with symptoms of poisoning, including facial flushing and a fever of 38.5°C.
The spokesperson for SJU Botoșani, Ioan Asaftei, stated that, following a clinical examination, fentanyl patches were discovered on the boy's body. Due to the poisoning, doctors administered naloxone, an opioid antidote, and the patient responded positively to the treatment. After stabilization, the boy was transferred to the pediatric ward of the hospital for continuous monitoring. The incident highlights the risks of improper use of opioid medications, especially among children.
