Meteorologists anticipate that the climatic phenomenon known as 'El Niño' could occur this summer, with a high probability of being a 'super' one, which could intensify extreme weather events and lead to record temperatures in 2027. El Niño is characterized by the warming of the ocean surface in the tropical Pacific, having significant effects on precipitation and droughts in different regions of the world. Although it is not guaranteed, current conditions suggest a 62% chance that El Niño will develop by the end of the year.

A 'super El Niño' is defined by an increase in surface temperatures of at least 2°C and could cause severe droughts in Australia and Africa, but also abundant precipitation in the southern United States. Experts emphasize that, although a significant change in climate patterns is expected, it is not guaranteed that droughts will be completely eliminated, and floods can bring destruction. However, monitoring these conditions is essential to help manage risks and prevent economic losses in climate-sensitive sectors such as agriculture and water management.
