A study warns that fires, deforestation and global warming could permanently disrupt the water cycle in parts of the Amazon rainforest.

The study suggests that between 10% and 47% of the Amazon's landscape is at risk of passing out of forest region by 2050 unless warming and deforestation rates are drastically reduced. The main stressors identified in the study are rising temperatures, extreme droughts, deforestation and fires.
