The wildfires in Greece continue to cause destruction, especially in the south of the Rethymno region, Crete, where the massive intervention of firefighters is hampered by strong winds, with gusts exceeding 118 km/h. The mountain town of Agia Paraskevi is facing the most difficult conditions. Meanwhile, new outbreaks have erupted on the island of Paros, where locals are collaborating with firefighters to extinguish the flames. In Spain, crews are working to control fires in the Madrid region and the province of Avila, while the risk of new fires remains high due to the fourth heatwave. An analysis by the World Weather Attribution organization suggests that climate change caused by human activity has significantly increased the likelihood of fires in these countries. In the United Kingdom, a fire in Suffolk County has led to the evacuation of 48 people, with the flames approaching a nuclear power plant, but the situation is currently under control.
