The Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana Ţoiu, announced the resumption of the Romania-India Joint Economic Commission, suspended since 2016, an event taking place in Bucharest with the participation of the Indian Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Hotin Prasada. Ţoiu emphasized the need to stop the decline in trade relations, which decreased from 1.7 billion dollars in 2023 to 1 billion in 2024.
The Commission is co-chaired by the Minister of Economy Radu Miruţă, with the main objective of increasing investments and cooperation in areas such as renewable energy and advanced technologies. Oana Ţoiu mentioned the importance of the Port of Constanţa as a logistics hub for Indian products and expressed concerns regarding the indirect financing of Russia through global economic ties. She emphasized that Romania cannot wait for European decisions to pursue its own economic interests.
