The vast majority of Romanians - 88.2% - declare that they love Romania and are proud of their country, while only 5.7% disagree with this statement.

More precisely, 75% of respondents fully agree with the statement "I love Romania and I am proud of my country," 13.2% somewhat agree, 4.7% neither agree nor disagree, 2.6% somewhat disagree, and 3.1% totally disagree. 1.4% do not know or do not respond.

Patriotism remains a strong identity bond for the majority of the Romanian population. Although consensus is dominant, there are also shades (partial agreement, indecision, disagreement) that show that for a part of society, attachment to the country is present but conditioned by personal experiences, socio-economic realities, or distrust in institutions.

The political profile highlights an interesting polarization: the PSD and PNL electorate declares an almost unanimous attachment to the idea of patriotism, while USR supporters express a more tempered attachment, suggesting slightly different views on national identity.

A partial explanation is also related to the fact that young people aged 18-29 who count among the supporters of this party stand out quite clearly from the rest of the population by a slightly lower declared level of patriotism (73% compared to 88% which is the average for the total population), a phenomenon likely correlated with exposure to international mobility, globalized digital culture, and a more critical attitude towards the state.

The data was collected between June 20-26, 2025. Research method: telephone interviews using a questionnaire, with a simple stratified sample volume of 1150 people, representative of significant socio-demographic categories (sex, age, occupation) for the non-institutionalized population of Romania, aged 18 and over. The maximum allowable error of the data is ± 2.9%, at a confidence level of 95%.

The results are extracted from the BAROMETRUL Informat.ro – INSCOP Research project, a monthly opinion poll conducted by INSCOP Research on behalf of the news platform Informat.ro in partnership with the Strategic Thinking Group think tank.

BAROMETRUL Informat.ro – INSCOP Research aims to bring to public attention topics of interest to stimulate national conversations about various subjects and essential public policies for the present and future of Romania, based on the opinions of Romanians in partnership with prestigious think tanks and academic institutions. It is an initiative through which we aim to contribute to the strengthening of democracy by using scientific and credible tools that bring the voice of citizens to the forefront of public debate.

Happy birthday, Romania!
