Hidroelectrica has announced that, following the final evaluation of the candidates for the CEO position, none met the established requirements. The Supervisory Board has decided to immediately resume the selection process and to maintain the interim management to ensure operational continuity. This decision comes after the contracts of the general director, Karoly Borbely, and the financial director, Marian Fetița, were amicably terminated due to challenges to their appointments by the European Commission, which led to the blocking of some funds from the PNRR. Romania risks losing 16 million euros from the PNRR due to these corporate governance issues. Although the Government has obtained an extension of the deadline for completing the selection, it is unclear whether this also applies in the case of Hidroelectrica.
