The European Commission has sent a letter criticizing the Romanian Government for the stagnation of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), underlining that the proposed changes are unrealistic and that the delays are affecting the country's development. Among the issues raised are delays in hospital construction and reforms in the energy sector, in particular the closure of coal-fired power plants. The commission has asked for further explanations from several ministries and has given the government until early next month to respond or risk losing EU funds.
