Tesla intends to enter the Bulgarian market through three major energy storage projects planned in Stara Zagora, Tvarditsa, and Veliko Tarnovo, according to Bulgarian MP Delyan Dobrev. He stated that the American giant has reached concrete agreements for investments in Bulgaria.

The announcement was made during an appearance on Radio Focus, amid Bulgaria attracting an estimated more than 3 billion euros in investments in electricity storage systems over the past year. According to Dobrev, the amount represents approximately 3% of the country’s GDP, and most of the projects are being developed by local entrepreneurs.

The official claims that the facility planned in Veliko Tarnovo is expected to be among the largest in Europe. The new batteries would allow Bulgaria to import cheap energy during the day, store it, and export it in the evening to countries in the region, including Hungary.
