Kelemen Hunor proposes a third option for forming the future Government: an “institutional executive”

UDMR President Kelemen Hunor proposed a third option for forming the future government on Thursday, in Parliament: an “institutional executive” made up of public officials with extensive experience in administration. The proposal comes in the context of the consultations convened by President Nicușor Dan at Cotroceni Palace to designate the candidate for the position of prime minister.

At present, two scenarios are being discussed: a political government formed around the PSD and a technocratic government, an option previously mentioned by Ilie Bolojan. Kelemen Hunor maintains that an intermediate solution could exist, intended to bring the positions of the PSD and PNL closer together.

The UDMR leader explained that the new Executive would consist of general directors, deputy general secretaries, and other officials with 25–30 years of experience, who have worked with several parties and are familiar with public administration procedures. He specified that this does not refer to specialists recruited exclusively from the private sector or the multinational sphere.

The proposal comes at a time when the parliamentary parties have not reached a clear majority to support a new government. Consultations at Cotroceni are continuing, and the president is expected to decide who will be designated for the position of prime minister.
