The Ukrainian Embassy in Bucharest has declared that no school in Ukraine with full or partial instruction in the Romanian language will be closed by 2027, contradicting recent information. Embassy representatives emphasized that the reform of the high school education system does not foresee the closure of educational institutions, and schools that do not become academic high schools will continue to operate as gymnasiums. Currently, there are 63 educational institutions in the Chernivtsi region that provide instruction in the Romanian language. The embassy also rejected myths related to the loss of the right to study in the Romanian language, emphasizing that the Constitution of Ukraine guarantees this right. Additionally, there will be no forced transfer of Romanian students to schools with instruction in the Ukrainian language, as this decision belongs to the parents. The educational reform aims to create a network of academic high schools and will not lead to the closure of rural schools.
The embassy reaffirmed Ukraine's commitment to respecting the rights of minorities and harmonizing the educational system with European standards.
