A group of 55 pilgrims from the counties of Buzău and Vrancea, on a pilgrimage to the Holy Sepulchre, was evacuated from Israel through Egypt following the escalation of the conflict in the area. On Saturday morning, the pilgrims were awakened by bombing alarms, and the travel agency Eland Tours decided to transport them overland to Egypt, considering that flights from Israel were suspended. The journey took 16 hours, during which the necessary visas were obtained.
Upon arrival in Egypt, a Tarom plane picked up the group to bring them back to Romania. The agency's director, Adi Licher, emphasized the importance of constant communication throughout the journey and confirmed that all the pilgrims arrived home safely. Currently, there are about 200 Romanians in Israel, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs mentioned that the situation is being monitored.
