Two Ukrainians have been placed in preventive custody in Romania, accused by DIICOT prosecutors of attempted acts of diversion, after they tried to set fire to the headquarters of a courier company in Bucharest. They have contested the arrest measure, and the High Court of Cassation and Justice will discuss the request on October 28. According to DIICOT, the two entered Romania and submitted packages containing homemade incendiary devices, with the aim of destroying the building.
The Romanian Intelligence Service intervened, defusing the devices and preventing a potential tragedy. Investigations are ongoing, and preliminary expertise suggests a connection to a sabotage network controlled by Russian secret services, targeting the infrastructure of the company NOVA POST. The judge for rights and freedoms ordered the preventive arrest of the two for 30 days.
