A Ukrainian man, identified as Serhii P., was arrested on Thursday in Warsaw, Poland, after fleeing Ukraine, suspected of attempting to assassinate a representative of the arms industry in Ukraine. Prosecutors and the Polish Internal Security Agency (ABW) stated that the suspect planted an improvised explosive device under the victim's car, which was to be detonated remotely, but the bomb did not explode due to a malfunction.
Serhii P. has been charged with attempted murder with explosives and illegal possession of explosives, risking a sentence of at least 15 years in prison or life imprisonment. This incident comes in the context of repeated accusations from Western countries and Ukraine that Russia is recruiting individuals for sabotage and espionage activities. The Russian Embassy in Poland has not yet commented on the situation.
