The Bucharest Court of Appeal expressed concern regarding the decision of the Constitutional Court which declared the reform of judges' pensions constitutional, considering that it represents a regression in the status of independence of the judiciary.

In its statement, the Court of Appeal emphasizes that intervention without a real debate will create serious imbalances in judicial activity, ignoring the realities of the system. It draws attention to the deficit of human resources and the increased workload, with judges managing a third of the national activity.

It is also mentioned that the proposed changes affect the quality of the act of justice and the time frame for resolving cases. The CCR decided 6-3 that the new draft law is constitutional, which has generated controversy among judges.
